Microsoft legal diversity

Creating a legal profession that reflects the public it serves

Diversity and inclusion efforts

At Microsoft, our customer base is as varied as the world itself, representing every background in this country and virtually every country on the planet. And in 20 years of committed diversity and inclusion efforts, we’ve learned that diversity is not a finite goal; it is a journey that requires constant self-assessment and recommitment. We strive to create an environment that helps Microsoft capitalize on the diversity of our people and the inclusion of ideas and solutions to meet the needs of our increasingly global and diverse customer base. And we’re doing a great deal of work across the company to foster diversity and inclusion.

We’re also working on these important issues within the Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) department at Microsoft. We see a clear business case to support diversity and inclusion in the government affairs, regulatory and legal fields. We’ve seen that as diversity increases in our department and with our law firms, improvements in decision-making, creativity, innovation, win-loss litigation records and business success follow.

We are committed to making progress on diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, from pipeline to partnership. And we believe that starts with holding ourselves accountable for progress and supporting diversity and inclusion within our own department at Microsoft.
